Frequently Asked Questions

Questions are welcome here.

Starting therapy can come with a lot of unknowns. Here are straightforward answers to some of the questions people ask before getting started.

Before you begin

Let’s make this easier.

You should not have to dig through a website to understand the basics. Click a question below to read the answer.

Do you offer in-person therapy?

Services are currently provided through telehealth for clients located in North Carolina. Telehealth allows you to attend sessions from a private location that works for you while remaining within the state.

What concerns do you work with?

Sacred Spaces supports adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, burnout and stress, relationship and friendship concerns, self-esteem, identity shifts, and major life transitions.

Do you offer Brainspotting?

Yes. Atosha McLean is Brainspotting Certified. Brainspotting may be integrated into therapy when it is clinically appropriate and aligned with your goals, needs, and comfort. It does not have to be used in every session.

What insurance do you accept?

Sacred Spaces Counseling Collective is in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and self-pay are also payment options. Because benefits vary by plan, clients should verify their specific behavioral-health coverage, deductible, copay or coinsurance, and authorization requirements.

What is the self-pay rate?

The self-pay rate for an individual therapy session is $200.

How long is a therapy session?

Session length may depend on the service and clinical needs. Your appointment details will be confirmed when services are scheduled.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. People come to counseling because something hurts, something keeps repeating, life has changed, they feel stuck, or they simply want support becoming healthier and more intentional.

What can I expect from working with Atosha?

The approach is warm, direct, practical, and human. There is room for compassion and tenderness, but also truth, accountability, boundaries, questions, laughter, grief, anger, and the uncomfortable work of change.

Is what I share in therapy confidential?

Confidentiality is an important part of therapy. There are legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, which are reviewed as part of the informed-consent process before treatment begins.
